I just got a new harddrive put into my iBook, by Apple, after the original became corrupted. While that's sad in itself, when it came back in the mail it didn't have iLife on it. I'm wondering if there is a disc that came with my computer that I can scrounge up to install garageband and iphoto? Thanks for any help you can give

If your iBook originally came with iLife, you should have either an iLife DVD in the box or you should be able to restore it from your system CD/DVDs.
Thanks, I'll try it

Download Pacifist, and open the Install Bundled Software packages with it... they are located on the System Restore DVD that came with your computer.

i've done this with my revision C Panther discs. and i cannot find iphoto or imovie or idvd... oddly enough. no idea why not. i assume it's on the second disc but pacifist will not let me open any files on it.

When did you purchase your iBook? If it was in 2004, then the iLife apps should be on the first install DVD. You will have to enable the ability see hidden files first. somewhere on the disc you will find a folder called System. In there should be packages of all the apps that came pre-installed on you iBook. Two that might not be on there will be Garageband and iDVD. They will probably be on the second DVD.

If that is complicated then check to see if you can install Software Restore from the first disc. This will place an application in the Utilities folder that will give you the ability to reinstall all apps.
