Hi everyone,

I got a mac mini out of warranty (core 2 duo 1.83 ghz) that just died on me. I went to the apple store and they sent it in for a diagnostic. They confirmed that the logic board is dead and will be around $350 to replaced. I'm still weighing my options and was wondering if anyone can direct me to a site that sells replacement logic boards to see if I'm better off doing the repairs myself?

Thanks ahead of time.

eBay will be my last resort because I feel more comfortable using a company first. I've uh....been screwed by ebay sellers before. :(

Make sure it isn't the pram battery, saw some post on MR on mini batteries in the last few days. Not sure how a Mini logic board just dies without someone either breaking something on it or drastic overheating... but that may be a misplaced confidence in Apple.

I have been screwed a couple of times as well on eBay. But I did some really good deals too. With Craiglist, I think it's two places where you could really find...

If you buy it brand new, I fear you will pay an expensive price.

I was absolutely shocked when it died myself. I kept it well ventilated in the coolest room in the house. I had it around 1.5 years so I was out of warranty but even 1.5 is too short for it to die out. I'm still trying to figure out if it's bad luck or something I did. Only other possible way is that I had a USB hub connected (not self-powered) with eyetv, keyboard, wired mouse, usb external drive (not self-powered), printer, a second usb external drive (self-powered), and iphone charger cable. Is it possible I had too much stuff drawing power from it and it couldn't handle it?
