Any ideas where is the best place to find movies to play on Android phones? Google Play has a very limited selection compared to iTunes and the lack of foreign movies is terrible.

Also Google Play limits to 5 devices which sucks. I flash ROM's and it caused problems for me to replay back movies.

Thanks for tips.

Or just download them on the computer and transfer if it is more obscure foreign films you are after?

Exactly why I rip/encode my own digital copies from blu ray or DVD. I like to try all kinds of devices and have no intention of committing outright to only one platform for the future. It's a little more work but well worth it, IMO.

Completely legal to make your own copies. Courts have ruled it legal since the VHS/beta max days.

Edit. Actually illegal. Crap.

^^ this. Not difficult really. AnyDVD and Handbrake. 30-40 minutes later total you can have a movie on my phone or tablet.

MovieTube. Then use TubeMate to download them.

This works great too. Although I like the higher quality rips myself.

MakeMKV and Handbrake for me as it's pretty much exclusively blu ray disks for me. Handbrake works beautifully and though I generally don't need to any longer, it let's you queue up as many encoding jobs as you'd like. When I was converting my library I'd run it overnight when I wasn't using my computer.

It just takes soooo long to rip with makemkv.. It normally takes me less time to encode after than rip but either way your talking a good 90 minutes (or longer) for a rip and encode of a standard length movie.

I has to start doing this when they moved digital copies from iTunes to UV, as UV barely offer support for Iteland with most movies restricted to UK only here despite being sold in Ireland with Irish film rating etc.... Annoying as muck.

90 minutes? WOW. Must be the software. Again, about 20-30 minutes to rip a movie with AnyDVD and about 10-12 to burn a disc. Although I've moved from DVD's to just ripping to a Hard Drive and streaming to the theater system. Drives today are plain cheap.

It's just the exponentially bigger file size - 50gb compared to 6-8gb on DVD and then the re-encoding of 1080p as opposed to SD footage.

Agreed--not the ideal method for instant gratification, but generally we only buy blu rays of movies that get repeat viewings..sometimes VERY repeated (I have 3 young kids ;)) so it's worth it. And as I don't have to do it too often anymore, it's no big deal to queue up a rip and let it run while I do something else, they set the encode to either do the same or run while I'm asleep at night.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
Plex is a god send. I payed for the Plex pass and ripped my entire library to the hard drive so now I have a nice visual library with movie art, descriptions, etc, that I can view on all my devices. Just wish I had known about it sooner.

Love PLEX as well and it's even better now that it works with Chromecast.

If you have iTunes purchased movies, you can do some extra efforts and then put mvoies from itunes to your android phone. But you have to get the so-called drm media converter to get rid of the itunes drm and convert it to your phone supported format. Very easy, and you can have a try.

Just buy them from a store specializing in foreign movies and rip and upload to your android device.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I don't buy DVD or Blu-Rays but mostly iTunes purchased movies. I plan to just convert them to mp4 using Noteburner which I tried out and it looks good. I will buy the full version later on.

I may buy a rare Blu-ray if the movie is that good.
