iPod Where did my ringtones go

I have no clue where my ringtones have gone. I have notice recently that my Iphone has switched to using the default tone. When I went to investigate what had happened to my ringtones, they were all gone. I had over 20 so I am going to be pretty P.O.ed if I have lost them forever. Also I have no clue how this could have happened although I have my ideas (Iphone 2.1 firmware....GRRRRR). If you could please steer me in the correct direction and help me find my ringtones
I would greatly appriciate it.
 
Just check your Itunes and make sure they are not there unchecked. Just a thought, I would assume they are still there.
 
no thats the thing is they aren't even any ringtones in my ringtone section in Itunes and there is no proof of purchase of the ringtones, just the songs I bought for the ringtones.
