Hi guys,

I hate the Recents feature and always have it turned off, now in iOS11 it seems to be turned on again but I cannot find where to turn it off.

It used to be in Settings > Contacts > Short Name but the option is just gone.

Thanks.

What “Recents” feature are you referring to exactly?

I'm not sure which feature you are describing, however I've looked at the settings you reference and there is nothing there in iOS 10 that seems to match that description.

A setting search for the word 'recent' doesn't get any hits, either.

Below is a picture of how it looked like in the past in iOS8, then they moved it to Contacts in iOS9, I haven't played with it in iOS10, but the settings moved through my icloud backup from one device to the other, now with iOS11 it got enabled again.

Now in iOS11, when I go to text a person for example , there are all "Recent" options with a blue i , and I don't want that.

When I want to iMessage Lisa, I get all the suggestions of previous conversations I had with Lisa and other contacts

When you click the blue i, you can remove them from RECENT for the future and it wont show up anymore.

For example if you like to recreate the problem:
1) You text Lisa and Alex together.
2) You close iMessage and a few hours later you want to text just Alex
3) When you text Alex and type in his name , the iphone will suggest to text George and Alex (with a blue i icon next to it)
4) If you tap the blue i icon, you can remove the persons from recent

That setting you included from iOS 8 had nothing to do with it as it was simply a setting to show recent contacts in the App Switcher (which is unrelated to what shows up when you are starting a new message or email or something like that).

I don't really recall there being a way to disable the "recent" functionality you are talking about aside from simply individually deleting/removing various entries using that blue "i" icon as you described.

Ok, but the 'recent' referenced there was a list of contacts showing on your App Switcher, which wasn't in iOS 10 and I don't think on 9, either.
