QuickTime actually preceded QuickDraw and QuickDraw 3D, so they likely derived their names from QuickTime. It's a good question regarding the genesis of the name, but I simply remember installing it way back on my Mac LC. I believe I started with v.2.0 or something close to that, and possibly 1.0 on my Mac SE but can't say I was too version conscious in those days (I was only 10).
I would tend to think that the name has something to do with Hypercard as that was the original multimedia application that started introducing sound, video, transitions and images all into a package (if anything PowerPoint owes due respect to Hypercard). Looking at HyperCards wiki, it looks like Quicktime did develop using Hypercard or may have began development for making Hypercard more video versatile.
Actually, I think is the other way. QuickDraw preceded QuickTime. I remember using QD with one of the original Macs (ca. 1986-87). QuickTime showed up later ... I do not remember exactly, but I think I first used it with a IIci.
Regarding the name, I guess was selected as prefix for other technologies, the same way "i" is used now.

Hey Gimme, could you please pm me?I have a question I need to ask you about System Preferences.TY!
It was Steve Jobs' nickname given to him by his wife after they had sex
And now you are expanding. Lots of thread to find, I am sure.
it was a joke dude, calm down.
The story that I heard back in the 90s is that by compressing the video, you could "quicken" the "time" taken to download them. It's clearly also influenced by QuickDraw but I suspect that there's some truth to the "download time" story too.
