Steam, but that said I don't buy Mac games. I just end up with them in my library through Steamplay. Win7 for games, OSX for work+media.

I too prefer hard copy so usually I purchase at Amazon (free shipping and no tax). Second choice for local purchases is Best Buy if I have a Rewards coupon. Bargains can be found on Steam. And if you run Windows, through Steam, you can actually play old good games like Vampire the Masquerade. However I have seen a few cases where I could only find a title at the Mac store, but this was several years ago and the last time I was in a Mac store, they had really cut back on the game titles they stocked. My wife likes casual mystery and hidden object games. Some of them are Mac compatible. If not, she has XP installed on her MacBook. We can find those at Best Buy and Target. Right now I'm playing only one Mac game- Portal 2. I have a hard copy I purchased on sale at Best Buy for $30. Check Best Buy online for this price. It's keeping me interested.

Check out Games listed at Apple.com, Mac RPG Must Haves listed at Amazon, and Mac Games Listed on Steam. If you delve into Windows on Your Mac, the number of Steam games increases by a factor of X100.

I forgot to mention battle.net! You can purchase any of your Blizzard games at battle.net. I remember buying Starcraft 2 the day it was released through their digital download service at battle.net. I would consider battle.net a valid online store for Mac video games.

Steam
Mac App Store

I have found essentially everything I've wanted there.

This, and I also have some DVD's from Amazon. I prefer Steam out of the lot though due to Steamplay. And that its downloads are much faster than the Mac App Store.

Last years I use Mac App Store only.

Few rare exceptions: Blizzard, GOG.

Blizzard Direct, Steam, Mac App Store, Amazon, Origin, GOG and I prefer the stores in about that order generally speaking.

Mac App Store.

Direct from online publisher.

Retail CD/DVD

Might eventually try Steam.... but wth is the deal with their website always prompting me to use Flash to see previews of games? Leaves a bad impression on me already if Steam is a client that will force me to use Flash. Bleh.

Usually on steam, which offers much more discount than App Store, however it depends on the game, because developers do not release for game on steam, hence I have to purchase on App store, which I do not like that so much. Because games do not get update like on the steam. So, basically I try to purchase the games on steam as much as I can.

Feral games from Feral.
Blizzard games from Blizzard.
Steam for Aspyr games and everything else .

Generally wherever it's cheapest but I'll probably be buying more from the App Store for now because I have a lot of credit built up.

I don't typically game on my Macs at all, but I do have a couple dozen games for my iMac.

I typically use Steam.

I use Steam for my PC gaming towers as well, Steam has a great collection of Mac and Windows games.

Purely out of interest - why don't people use the smaller sites like macgamestore, macgames.co.uk, gamersgate & macgames.fr? Obviously I speak on behalf of MacGames.co.uk, and we feel that sites like ours offer a large selection of both boxed and downloadable Mac games, plus (we think!) a better service for Mac users because we all focus solely on Mac Gaming, so can offer more advice & support to Mac users.

It's also worth noting that for aspyr games in particular, everywhere that sells the download versions (be it amazon, gamersgate, macgames.co.uk, or macgamestore), sells a steam activation code so you use steam anyway.

You may then ask, what's the point in not going direct to steam?

Two reasons:
Firstly, SUPPORT - you can't contact steam without using its Ticketing system and waiting in a queue, which is usually experiencing 'High Ticketing Volume' so they ask you to please be patient. Speaking for MacGames.co.uk - we have a phone number, email address & contact form which are manned pretty much 24/7 & are all listed on every page of the website.

Secondly, PRICE - Occasionally we run a sale on Aspyr games like Black ops or more Recently Civilizaition V Gold. For example, Civ V - At the end of the day, yes you'll receive a code to download via steam (including steam play if the game is listed as such), but you'd pay £17.45 for it on MacGames.co.uk in the sale, or its £29.95 list price in steam. You get the exact same result - a steam download - but at nearly half the price. Even if you don't use smaller sites all the time - you've got to admit its a no-brainer in the sales!

Anyway thats my little rant about how I can't understand why more people don't use our website, but I do have a couple of serious questions - WHY don't people turn to the smaller sites? Should we really just let the big boys take over?! Recently, I have thought about closing down MacGames.co.uk, which has been serving the Mac community since 1998, so an answer to this question would help us really evaluate our existence, and I'll be following this thread with great interest.

Because I use more operating systems than OS X. Steamplay makes any other choice seem moronic when you use OS X, Windows and Linux on a regular basis.
