so I installed virtual pc for mac. afterwards, I picked the os to be installed. I wanted to save windows files to an external hard drive, so I changed the location from... documents/virtual pc list/windows xp.
to my external drive.
and when windows started installing. when it questions to partition on c:
I choose not to erase, and create seperate partition.

everything went ok.
but then what I get is a alias in documents/virtual pc list/windows xp
and the get info for that alias says the original is my external drive.

but in my external drive, theirs nothing there???
so I did a get info on external drive and it says formated fat32. but no visible signs of windows anything in it.

so my question is, where did virtual pc save windows xp?
I would like to save windows files. and added windows programs on that external drive.

Thank you all for your input.

Don't you have a 4-10GB file somewhere around

/Users/johndoe/Documents/Virtual PC List/

Or did a spotlight search fail to find where the file moved

ok, what's funny is...
I don't see anything vmwarevm file, using find or spotlight.

but the funny thing is, I'm trying to use "OmniDiskSweeper" which shows all files also hidden ones. and what I'm getting when I sweep external drive is "windows xp profile" with stuff in it. but you can't see it.

the funny thing is, I turn off the external hard drive. and virtual pc still loads windows xp. so its still some where else ...lol
guess that's what I get for trying to be slick

Are you sure that you searched your "computer" and the connected drive?

The file has to be there somewhere -- especially if you can launch Windows.

"omnidisksweeper" displays a invisible volume of my external drive. and within that invisible recreated drive, is the windows xp pro files for virutal pc.
so what I did is move that file to desk top. and then to external drive.
then I went to documents/virtual pc list/windows xp pro(alias)...
and select new original. and that being the eternal drive file for windows xp.

and we'll see if it works.
plus save disk space. cause that file was 1.9g

not only did omnidisksweeper show my external hard drive as a invisible volume. with the windows xp folder and files. it also showed a copy of a invisible zip file I downloaded and saved a long time ago.

I know it's showing a copied volume of the external hard.
because I choose to do a sweep of my native hard drive. without the external one plugged in.

man, that's crazy!!!!
