Apple removed Cover Flow and replaced it with Gallery View in Mojave. I, along with many others, downgraded back from Mojave and remain on High Sierra to keep this finder view. Despite many protests and requests, it has remained a mystery why it was yanked.

Perhaps a $205 million dollar patent infringement settlement against Apple explains something (Apple Loses $208.5MM In Cover Flow Patent Infringement Suit). Oddly, Apple was awarded a patent for Cover Flow last April as explained in the article.

Many of you probably are not concerned. But, if you use(d) it to screen hundreds or even thousands of jpg, mp4, pdf, doc, etc. files, you understand.

I love the simpler Gallery View, personally – it's kind of a relief to know the Finder isn't creating its own little 3D graphics sandbox just to allow me to view a folder's contents in a lightbox-like way.

Apparently Cover Flow in the Finder was more beloved than I realized.
