Phew thought it was just me, but installed on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV and couldn't get it to work. So guess not there yet 
Yes, I was just scratching my head wondering why my Apple TV 4 couldn't be used in HomeKit. Maybe they will wait till HomePod is released....
iOS 11 has not been released yet to the public. Feel free to make this post next week on release date.
This would be the first time in all of iOS history that they add a major feature to a version of iOS on launch day with a new build number than that of the GM.
Press release site or the new 4K ATV It staes AirPlay 2 coming later this year. so probably in a 11.1 update or 11.2

Yes, but these are services. Like iCloud message sync, they could be initiated with a back end switch, couldn't they?
I'm not sure I'd classify AirPlay as a service. It's a feature ... as it doesn't require Apple to do anything other then code it into the OS. There's nothing happening on their servers to make it work.
Hm, not sure. It's also possible that the version released to the public will be 11.01, or a minor point update like it was last year. The ApplePay stuff isn't here yet, the iCloud messaging, and a few other services.
Yeah I'm thinking they're gonna push it with a point update ahead of homepod. Bummer because it's the feature I was really looking forward to on iOS 11. Hopefully only a short wait.
