Where is iCloud photo stream in Yosemite?

I could swear I had access to it under Mavericks, but after turning on iCloud Drive I can no longer find it. None of the pics I've snapped with my iPhones show up in the pictures folder in Finder, all I get is the iPhoto library there, and it doesn't seem browseable via finder.

Not only do I hate iPhoto with a vengeance, but having all my images locked up in that bloody repository means it's really hard to say attach an image I just snapped to an email if I can't access the photostream...so, help, please!

You can easily attach photos from iPhoto in an email. After you click the attach button, in the sidebar of the file browser, scroll down to Media and select Photos. This will let you browse the pictures from iPhoto right in Mail without even having iPhoto open.

Thank you, I did not know this, but still, would that not depend on me having imported the picture to begin with into iPhoto? (And I hate that damn thing so much, it has wrecked images for me in the past, amongst other things.)

The photo stream updates itself automatically and is much more accessible. It works from everywhere (on my PC, that is) since the images are stored as discrete files and not hidden inside a monolithic mountain of bull. The amount of assorted extraneous files and folders inside that photo roll repository is just staggering.
