iPod Where is my Audiobook?

I imported a 5 cd set audiobook to my library. I went into the info and changed it from book to audiobook and it disappeared off of my music list (which is what I was trying to do). Now I can't find it anywhere in itunes. I have never had an itunes bought audiobook so there is no section for audiobooks listed that I can tell. When I sync to the ipod, it does show up there in the audiobook section.

Anyone know where in itunes it might be?

In the iTunes preferences, you have selected audiobooks to be displayed, right?

All the audiobooks I've purchased from audibooks.com or iTunes show up in the special "pre-made" audiobooks section. However, I have the same problem as you with audiobooks that I import myself.

Gave up about a year ago, so unless it's been fixed in a later update of iTunes, you won't be able to have your own audiobooks show up in that tab at all. (even if you've marked the genre and everything as audiobook).

The best way I came up with was creating a smart playlist with audiobooks... A pain in the... still.

However, I just found this as a new feature in itunes 8. Haven't tried if myself, but perhaps that will solve our organizational worries

I went to the pref's and checked audiobook. Now it is listed in that section. Thanks, I didn't realize you could change what was displayed on the left column.

However, I just found this as a new feature in itunes 8.

Yes, this is a great feature to keep a growing iTunes library under control.

There's only one downside: Changing the media kind will obviously change the change date of the file. So if you batch convert a few thousand songs/movies, it will fill up the Time Machine drive quite easily.
