I just jailbroke my 1st gen iPhone via QuickPwn. I went into Cydia and installed Winterboard. It installed and prompted me to restart the springboard.

Now there isnt an icon. Anyone else exp this??

I also noticed that the Cydia homescreen wasnt responsive when I clicked on anything, so I had to get Winterboard though System>Winterboard.

If you go to manage>packages does it show up there as being installed?

Have you ever had it before and used Poof or anything?

Ive had Summerboard on 1.1.4 and Winterboard on 2.0.2 w/ no issues. Ive never used Poof or anything like that.

Just now I tried to install BossPrefs, the icon isnt showing up either.

Anyone?

lol

well you might be the first one with this issue....never heard of it before..

what did you use to jail break your phone?
software version?

I had a similar problem, I had to SSH into my phone and delete com.apple.mobile.installation.plist which is in /var/mobile/Library/Caches

that's just weird... perhaps categories from back in 1.1.4? The prefs file could have been restored if you restored from backup in iTunes.

Dang... sorry...

Yeah it was weird. I have never used Catagories and when I upgraded to 2.1 I set it up as a new phone.

It happened to my iPhone 3G too. I Can't see the Cydia apps icons. I've installed Categories and Winterboard. I've already done what you said but didn't work for me :(

now i realized that the problem is happening with categories and WinterBoard. I've installed the guicache and the icon appeared. The same happened with MacMan. But the Categories and WinterBoard, no way --'

you have to install "BossPref" and go to "poofs" in the application and turn on winterboard after you have winterboard installed.

I had this problem for 2 days! fustrated the crap out of me.

thank you thank you thank you. This has been bothering me for 3 days. Installed BossPrefs and my iPhone never looked hotter.
