Just installed ML. Opened a PDF using Preview 6.0 (765). Can't find the ADD LINK function. It is suposed to be in the Annotate menu, but I can't find it. Anyone know where it is/went?

Venting About This among other things

Just installed ML. Opened a PDF using Preview 6.0 (765). Can't find the ADD LINK function. It is suposed to be in the Annotate menu, but I can't find it. Anyone know where it is/went?

I've just been sitting here ranting and raving about this in my head for the passed half hour. I...really don't understand the logic in removing useful technology and replacing it with...nothing. It's not there. Look for it all you want and it's just not there. We're still able to draw lines and ovals and squares and talk bubbles and blahblahblah. But, Apple decided to remove the Add Link functionality from Preview completely.

Bottom line is, I really don't care why they did it. They just need to put it back. About the most annoying thing you can do as a developer is give the audience what they need, and then, without warning, just take it away. On top of that, you replaced it with absolutely nothing. Just like the Activity Window in Safari. You could say you replaced that with the web inspector, but we already had the web inspector, didn't we? Yeah, we did. And does the web inspector instantly tell me the size of the files on the page (in KB or MB)? No, it doesn't. You created this IM client that brought together other accounts that I could use to chat with people, and then you took that away, too. Even changed the name to Messages instead of iChat. Cause apparently, we don't chat anymore, we just send messages back and forth like I'm on a cellphone or something.

Problem is, I'm not on a cellphone. I'm on a computer. I'm glad you're trying to integrate the two operating systems. That's good. Good for you. Yippy skippy. Now, would you please put the functionality back in Preview so that I don't have to go looking at and/or relying on more Adobe software, that may or may not have what I'm looking for? And certainly won't run near as smoothly? Pretty please? Thanks, Apple. I knew you'd be understanding and attentive to what the user really needs.

By the way, I don't really care about Safari's missing activity window, because I already have a viable alternative for that. It's called Firefox, and it works quite nicely on my computer. I couldn't really care less about iChat, either. Because I really never used it...because it didn't really do a good job of integrating other IM accounts. That's what Adium's for.

I've just seen quite a few features that used to be there but aren't anymore, and this one kind of got to me. It's why I googled it. It's how I ended up on this page. It's a small thing, really. I don't understand in any way, shape, or form why they would take that away.

But PREVIEW? Seriously? Come on, Apple.

Be sure to submit that to Apple. It's crucial they take notice.

So, what do we do?

I am so mad!!! I am writing a review in a minute. What do I do then for my pdf files. As part of my business, it is very important that I insert hyperlinks into pdf files.
