Okay, well I had a problem earlier w/ my ibook and apple took care of it. Everything was solved but a new problem arise. Before I could be 10 ft away from my router and still connect to the internet. But now I have to be in the same room. I checked the forum w/ similar problems and I think I might need to reseat the airport extreme card. There weren't any instructions in my manual and so I checked the net and yess..I found it. I flipped open my keyboard, unscrewed the ram shield, but NO CARD!! Searched endlessly online but I found no info on the location of the aiport card in the new updated ibook. *sigh*

This is the only iBook DIY instructions available currently, did they re-design the new iBook?
If you're getting a wireless signal - even a week one - then you must have an airport card.
Alright... http://www.apple.com/ibook/specs.html clarifies a little bit... stating "Built-in Wireless" so it will be running right off the mobo and not be a user servicible part. Sounds like your antenna was either partially disconnected or damaged in some way when the 'earlier problem' was taken care of. Get Apple back on the line, and make sure you sign up for AppleCare/

"Okay, the card must be under here." I unscrewed it, held my breath, and.......bummer it's not there. I even check the battery compartment to see if its like the pb.
Oh, and YES it is the ibook that was updated on Tuesday. I can go online flawlessly w/o gettting disconnected ONLY if I am in the same room. I can be 5 ft away in a corner w/ no problem, but if I step outside (even if its 2 ft away from the router) I can't get online. So it's not distance but rather interferences. My theory is that my airport can't recieve wireless signals through anything solid.
To test this out I walked inside my closet which is directly in front of my router and YES, internet works fine (full bar). Then I shut my closet door and damn NO, the internet doesn't work. The bar goes down to 2. What does this mean?

No clue where the airport card is on the new iBooks. I can't believe this is the first thing we've heard of this though. I thought people who got the new ones did RAM upgrades....wouldn't they have noticed?!
Okay dokie, I just got off the phone w/ the applecare guy. At first he told me that its underneath the keyboard. I told him I looked in there already so he goes off for a few minutes to check something. He comes back w/ this answer "I'm sorry but its not user-accessible. The aiport card is built-in the computer." I'll have to take it to the apple store so they can check my wireless signals. Well, if there is a problem w/ my card can they fix it or they'll have to replace me w/ another ibook (like last time)? The guy on the phone doesn't know either. So I wonder if the card is replaceable or is it soldered on the board.
