Hello All,

I apologize if this isn't the right place to post. Looking to make a simple app that just has icons on a page that when clicked goes to specific websites.

Does any one know of the proper place to look? Haven't had success on craigslist.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

I would think that the time it would take you to find a developer to write this for you, you could easily learn to write it yourself. It isn't that hard; and there are a ton of examples on the internet.

Ive been watching tutorials on Xcode. I don't have the time to learn a programming language when I have zero background in it.

The question is, what is in it for the developer? Sure I could code this up for you in a few minutes, but there are some problems. How do you get the app? If you can't compile it, then you can't use it. If you don't have a Developers Network account, you can't use it. Is it going to be distributed to a company? If so, you need a corporate developers account and then you can distribute them internally. Otherwise the developer will have to have it submitted to Apple for addition to the AppStore. Then the developer could setup whatever they wanted as the price.

Appreciate the response and information.
I registered with apple dev program and downloaded Xcode. Orignal plan was to try to find someone near me that could maybe do it on my Mac.

If it's done outside my Mac can it still be submitted under my name? It's only for the app store. Free app that is targeted to specific market.

I guess that's why I posted this. Was looking for more info and to hopefully hire someone.

Thanks again for the response

Craig

Right, what you would need is someone to code it up using their account then then send you the source. You'll need to get that source setup on your account (not difficult, but not obvious either), then you can compile it and submit it.

It has the code to launch Safari with a link; just need the simple app wrapper with a button to click. If I was you, I'd pick up the book Hillegass book (Cocco programming for OSX) and do it myself. Using that book, with the example code from Apple, you can code it yourself in less then a day, even if you know NOTHING about programming.

Sadly my Dev account has lapsed, otherwise I would have written it up for you by now and this week is super busy for me. :(
