I am on the dev. program and downloaded El Capitan but had to abort because I did not have enough free space to install. I have now made enough space and want to try again but cant figure out how to get the thing installing? In app store it says "downloaded"...but where is it? How can I run it? thanks.

Similar problem. In app store it says "downloaded" and it is on my iMac but when I check in my Applications folder there is nothing that says El Capitan installer.

Nope. did a search with that name and nothing comes up. Was just trying to see about making a copy of the OS but it says you need the installer to do it. Do I have to re-download El Capitan again?

The only option is to download again if you have already downloaded and installed El Capitan. The installer app automatically deletes after installation. I'm not sure how you get around the Downloaded status in the App Store. You need the button to show the Download choice in the Purchase tab.

It does show that in the Purchased tab. So downloading again won't hurt anything? not sure if it's worth the trouble. Thanks for the help.

Downloading it again will not hurt, other than the time it takes to download. The installer app will automatically launch after the download is completed. Answer the question about which language then Quit the app on the next screen. The full installer app will then be left in the Applications folder.
