I'm planning to buy gtx 980..but i need those drivers and cuda....where do i find it? The website doesn't have mac version for it.

bad performance?

Edit: wait...so there isn't 980 ti official driver?

AFAIK

The driver is officially from Nvidia (obviously).

However, they only said the card is supported from their blog. Not in the official driver description page.

So, it's some kind of semi supported.

Did Nvidia official says the web driver support Maxwell and Pascal card? YES (from their blog)

Is the driver info also say so? NO

Is it just beta support? No official info on this matter. It's the user to decide if this driver is good enough to use.

Officially they used the word 'beta' both times when Maxwell and Pascal were enabled. They want to sell more cards and keep Mac users in the loop for now. They aren't going to go beyond beta because they don't want to spend money on support, failures, replacements, etc.

If gaming takes off then driver situation will change. Nvidia will never need to release 'Mac edition' anymore because current and future Macs won't need boot screens installed in an EFI ROM. It's all about the drivers from now.

Oh, isn't it? I forget the exact wording in those blog post already. If they said beta at there, then it is beta. Because no other newer official info to update that situation.

They certainly do:

Here:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/119315/en-us

and here:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-cuda-8.0.83-driver.html

And a statement about the "Mac Community" here:

https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2017/04/06/titan-xp/

There's no mention in the linked statement about beta support.

Note: I am running the above linked drivers on my MVC flashed Gigabyte GTX 1080. Works beautifully for me!

There have been two statements about beta support. You need to be careful about who you listen to on this forum because salesmen like to argue and deflect in circles. We have argued this for two years, posted many dozens of links to evidence, and they keep telling lies to new users and potential customers.

I wouldn't say 'bad' performance, but it's certainly not as fast as it is in Windows. This is down to driver efficiency and that the vast majority of graphically stressing apps run an ancient OpenGL API at the moment, instead of Metal.

The biggest issue you'll run into with a GTX 980 Ti is not driver support though, it's making sure it is getting enough power. 99% of the time it's fine - I can run GTA V or Max Payne 3 at 1600p at rock solid 60fps with all graphics turned up, for example. But if I run FurMark, the system will crash very quickly. So whilst games will probably be fine, be aware that any heavy GPU compute loads may well end up causing you headaches.

Oooh. Yeah..i would be using heavy load though. Yikes

Did you get your 980ti? I got the MSI 6GB and put it in a Netstor. Too many cards on board. :(
I had to put it off. Apparently, there wasn't' an "official" driver for it. I have to wait and see on sierra high os.

^^^^But there is!!!!!! I posted the links for Sierra above!!!!!! High Sierra will be the same offerings modified for the new OS. Maxwell cards are supported back to El Capitan. Pascal limited to Sierra.

That was it? Lol o ok.

And even to Yosemite 10.10.5. Obviously there are no drivers for 10.8.5 but having the card in the MP using default drivers allows it to be "present". When you switch to "web drivers" and reboot in 10.10.5 or higher the card becomes "active". The problem I had in 10.8.5 (default driver) was that the app I use there crashed just in the "presence" of the mighty GTX 980ti! :D Had to kick it out and put it in an external box. With the box turned off (but still connected) 10.8.5 uses older web drivers and that app does not crash. I didn't know that the mere presence of the GTX 980ti's was daunting! :p
