Where is the New AppTapp Installer for 1.1.1?

Just wondering... It's been over a month since Apple dropped the 1.1.1 bomb and it looks like there are plenty of work arounds for jailbreaking the new firmware, but I've been holding off on the upgrade until AppTapp Installer is 1.1.1 compatible. Am I missing something? Why hasn't it been upgraded to be compatible yet?

My guess is that since (maybe) the "breaking" method to gain access to the firmware is different than the first, they are taking their sweet (and necessary) time making sure it all works 100%, just to be safe.

I found that after I had app'd my phone (on AT&T) and upgraded to the 1.1.1, a lot of little issues started popping up here & there, so to get my phone to work 100% perfectly, I had to restore. I'm sure they're just making sure everything works before a pub. release.

It'll be released between the 20-30th of October, I'm told that Installer.app 3.0 has many changes that I'm sure you'll like. One important change is that it can detect what firmware version your iPhone is running, so I can make sure that things only install where they should. Additionally, though I'm told it doesn't yet work, it will (eventually, hopefully before it's released) also be able to tell if you are installing the app on an iPhone or an iPod Touch.

Most likely the reason they haven't released an update is that there is currently no "1 step" jailbreak process like there was on 1.0.2 and lower... To jailbreak 1.1.1 you need to either downgrade to 1.0.2 and do some symlink voodoo before upgrading... or you need to use the tiff exploit in 1.1.1.

My guess is that when a new apptapp installer is released it will rely on the tiff exploit as it's easier to do from the users perspective.

In any case, once the next apple SW revision comes out, the tiff exploit will be null and void, and if they close the loophole on the symlink hack then we'll be SOL for a while longer (here's to hoping they don't )

It's safe at this point to assume that if there is a Leopard iPhone update that their wont be much to it (except for fixing the tiff issue). The announcement of the 3rd party apps in Feb pretty much eliminates any real substantial update until then. Either way, once AppTapp releases their new installer many wont update again until something substantial is released.

I think you will find just the opposite to be the case. We are talking about Apple & their applications & updates, not 3rd party applications. It has been a pretty well known fact that the iPhone is running Leopard already and until the release of the OS for computer systems Apple has had to hold off in releasing new/additional applications.

Leopard will not bring any new upgrades to iPhone. If any, they will be minor. Even when they do, the 1.1.1 (with signing and all) was the rough one to crack. I doubt we will see any other major reworks of the basic OS in the iPhone, at least not to the extent in 1.1.1. There will be changes, and some may knock out some hacks, but nothing like 1.1.1.
