I did a Geekbench 3 & 4 benchmark before and after my upgrade from i5-760 2.8ghz to the faster i7-870 2.93ghz and its almost the very same results. There should be a huge difference. I've seen other people's benchmark scores between 8900 - 9200 and mine was a 2666 single core 7448 multi core with the i5-760 and the i7-870 scored a 2835 single core and 7648 multi core. Did I need to unlock something in the OS for the new upgraded chip? It did notice everything just fine and no fan ramping problems like others that have done this have reported. The i5 scores were with 8gb ram and 1tb HDD as well and when I added the i7 I also added 8gb more ram (16 total) and a 250gb SSD & 4tb HDD. I really need some help from all of your PRO's out there!!!!

It is only a marginal improvement of 5% or so. The best results in upgrades come when later technology is used and you should have got a big jump from the SSD. Is the operating system installed on the SSD and is it selected as the Boot Drive in System Preferences > Startup Disk?
