You would think they could release it a bit early to work out whatever they cocked up.

Here is their e-mail response(Directv)

I understand your concern about the SUPERCAST™ Mobile application. SUPERCAST™ Mobile is free to all NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ and NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ SuperFan subscribers. The service is accessible from 12 - 8:15pm ET each Sunday from September 13, 2009 to January 3, 2010.

Supercast Mobile application is available Aug 17, 2009. For *iPhone/iPod Touch, your can download from iTunes app store.

ORLY?

Stupid Directv people.

I don't understand what releasing it early would accomplish. Sunday ticket doesn't start until the 13th. What are they going to test it on? This app is only going to work on games that air on Sunday Ticket and Sunday Ticket only. They don't air pre-season games, Thursday night games or Monday night games. People just need to relax, the app will be available by the time the REGULAR season starts.

So the fact it is supposed to be in the app store on the 17th doesn't alarm you? We don't even know if it has been submitted yet, if it hasn't then no way is it going to get through that process before the 13th. Facebook took 2 weeks, Directv isn't getting any special treatment if facebook can't.

No. I'm not alarmed. To me this app is just an added bonus that wasn't even available to us last year. I get it when I get it. Will I use it? Yes, but probably only once or twice a season because I tend to watch the NFL at home in front of my TV. Rarely am I ever in a situation when I'm not. At home. On an NFL Sunday.

Usually Directv does not release anything until the day or two before the season. The channels (usually 700-720) are not even up yet. Relax it will be up I am guessing Friday of next week.

i sent an email to directv customer service asking when it was going to be available and this is the response i got:

Thanks for writing us back. It's always a pleasure to hear from our new customers! Welcome to the DIRECTV family!

Please be advised that NFL SuperCast for your iPhone has been delayed. For further news and updates about the NFL SuperCast, please visit our website directv.com/supercast.

Thanks again for writing. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

"Thank you for writing us. I would be happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding the iphone application for NFL SUNDAY TICKET Superfan. I am very sorry to hear that you are having trouble locating the Supercast Mobile application. I have researched this issue for you and found that the release date for this application has been delayed until next week. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."

It looks like the App was approved/released last night, and it is available in the iTunes App Store.

They could help with test streams with real customers to work out the inevitable bugs on the platform. Not to mention install issues, crashes etc.

What I don't understand are the people who think it's helpful to tell others they need to relax. Great contribution!

You focused on the wrong part of my post. So what you're saying is they should've delayed the release by at least a week after the season started so people could test this? That makes alot of sense, there would've been alot of people (you included, I'm sure) whining and moaning "WHERE'S SUPERCAST ALREADY?!?" Gimme a break. And btw, my contribution made alot more sense than what you're suggesting. So......chillax.

Which part of this helpful post should I focos on? The part where you make excuses for completely unconstructive posts or the part where you accuse me of whining and moaning and tell me to "chillax?"

BTW... I'm saying that Direct TV should manage their customers expectations better to build more valuable relationship-capital and thereby improve the long term value that the customer attributes to brand. But don't take my word for it (that's only what I've been doing for the past 5 years for a Fortune 500 company). No, I recommend that you stick to your finger-pointing, name calling and Dan Cortese-like word usage.

And once again, thank you for bringing so much value to the issue. Great job!

This is a FREE app! You actually think that if there are "the inevitable bugs on the platform. Not to mention install issues, crashes etc"(which you automatically assume they're going to have) that they're going to lose Superfan customers or potential Superfan customers? And I used the word chillax because for some unforeseen reason the word relax somehow offended you, my sincere apologies. Oh, and congratulations on your Fortune 500 gig. Very proud of ya.
