Where is Xcode?

I have just got a new 11,6 air. It is not my first Mac, and I have always found Xcode on the install discs, but where is it now? I can't find it in the install usb stick.

I know I can download it from apple (I hope for free, as i am using it for personal needs) but, shouldn't it come bundled with the air? It is even listed in the specs sheet...

Xcode didn't come bundled on my 13" Ultimate, which spec sheet are you referring to that lists it?

I definitely had to download it separately.

Yes it's free to download.

And yes it's included. Just not installed. It's on the restore DVD but it'll be an out of date version

Yes, I know it should be on the restore DVD. It always was with my other macs.

The problem with the Air is that there is no restore DVDs anymore. It comes with a restore USB drive. And it seems that XCode is not in it.

Look around on your Macintosh HD (or whatever it's called). I've seen new Macs ship with the installer on the hard drive (but XCode not installed).

I actually called Apple and found out that it isn't included on the restore thumb drive. You'll have to download it which is a pain since its a fairly large file.

Xcode that's included with Macs is always out of date anyhow, you should always download it.
