I have a swollen battery on my early 2011 MacBook pro, the trackpad wont click and i have a message saying service battery, i would like to buy a new battery but not sure whats the best place to buy one from.

should i buy the chap ones from eBay for around $50 or the expensive one from Macfixit for around $170, i live in Australia and OWC wont ship batteries for some reason, so thats not an option.

also whats the right part number for my mac, i read you get reduced cpu performance if you install the wrong battery.

this is what im considering:

Looking at your options above, I'd probably settle on the "betterbatt" source.

Look at it this way:
The betterbatt battery costs $53 (AUS).
The macfixit battery costs $160.

Even if the macfixit battery lasted twice as long, you could still buy TWO betterbatt batteries and "come out ahead" -- assuming you don't buy a new MacBook before then....
