This actually isn't about a Mac Pro, but considering that dealing with six-pin cables off the mobo is a common thing here, I figured I'd ask.

We've got an HPZ840 that's got three 6-pin PCIe cables. We're trying to power a Titan Z, which calls for dual 8-pin connections (375W draw). To be safe, I'd like to tap the spare molex connectors to a 6-pin (have that cable), and then use two dual 6-pin female to single 8-pin male connectors to run into the Titan and make sure it's sufficiently powered.

Problem is, I can't find these suckers anywhere. Newegg and Monoprice don't have them, Microcenter doesn't either. I found a random site that no longer carries them: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...-Pin-PCI-Express-Male-Y/109575_543860007.html

Can anyone help?

PC Parts? Can't find? How about a PSU that offers a couple 8-pin as most all the ones I have that are 750W or above do.

Moddiy looks promising with HP cables and parts.

We're not swapping the PSUs (they're 1125W anyhow.) For whatever reason, though, they don't come with 8-pins off it, and swapping cables at the supply would mean tearing apart the entire back of the chassis. Far easier to plug in adapters than dismantle the computer and reroute and retie cables.

Good recommendation. I'd search Amazon also, just to price compare.

Amazon wasn't giving me what I needed when I went looking—lots of female 8-pin to male 6-pin splitters, not the reverse. The eBay course looks like the best one—I guess since these sorts of cables usually come bundled in with the graphics cards, they're harder to find? (Our cards are demos straight from Nvidia and don't come with jack.)

Thanks for words of wisdom.
