Hello,

I am interested to purchase a 27" iMac that able to upgrade SSD in the future.

I live in California, have a discover credit card and student ID. Shall i just go to Apple store with studnet ID discount and leverge the 10% discover cash back?

I was going to purchase the 256 ssd imac but it seems like they dont go on sale anywhere.

Apple or BestBuy are fine. If you buy online at apple you can configure the iMac any way you see fit.

As for upgrading the drive to an SSD down the road, I'd recommend you reconsider that, as iMacs are basically sealed computers. Check out iFixit's tear down While technically possible to upgrade the drive, its not for the faint of heart.

If you want one with an SSD order online using your educational discount and get the machine you want.

As mentioned by Maflynn doing your own SSD upgrades is a real pain on these machines. You really want the 4 lane PCIe that comes with these machines for top SSD action as well.
