i've finally decided to get a new macbook. should i get it at an apple store... or go for the $100 rebate deal on amazon.com and risk it getting damaged in shipping?

Also, not sure if macbook later in the production would more likely to be at the apple store or at amazon.com...

Amazon usually ships things pretty well. I've been ordering from them for years and nothing has happened. And if it's damamged you send it right back.

If you are a student I would go to the apple store. I got a free printer, $100 off my macbook, and payed $90 for a iPod video. The macbooks from the store are the latest shipping release so if you think that the older modles are flawed, the apple store has new shipping releases. Also they have refurbed and refreshed macbooks.

@beloved84 I am on a macbook right now and it is wonderful. There is nothing wrong with the macbook, it is one of the best laptops on the market. The only problem is that people only focus on the bad and no one is going to post, that they have a good macbook.

5 times! Doesn't that qualify for the "Lemon Law?"

I purchased one from amazon last week, got it on monday. Shipped fine. They put the macbook box in an external brown box with styrofoam inserts. I had on dent in the external box but the macbook box was fine. I received a week 29 unit. Runs fine(so far), does have on dead pixal in lower part of screen but I can only see it if I am within 12" of the screen. It's right on the dock border at full size. I haven't done the online rebate yet, so I can't say if that has any problems.

I would say if your elagable for the ipod+mac offer from apple got with that, but if not go for the best price.(like amazon)

their policy is ... if we fix the SAME problem 3 times and it is still busted, then you qualify for an exchange only.
