HI

I have read a lot about how much better the heat conduction gets once the stuff between CPU and heatsink put there at the factory is replaced with Arctic Silver 5.

I also realized how quickly temperature rises in the AIR on the CPU if the vent are blocked. From low 50's to low 80's (celcius) in mere minutes even with no load.

So for those of you that have reapplied the heat pasta where can I find this Arctic Silver?

Thanks

LOL - I'm sure you meant "paste" but I had a laugh thinking about thermal "pasta". :)

Well I didn't realize I would offend by just asking...

Since I never buy stuff like this I wanted to make sure I buy the exactly right kind that helpful people in this forum have talked about.

Thanks for info and links provided!

What AIR version did you fix, A or B?

Also how much temperature fall did you get, so what is your old vs new "idle" or just surfing temperature?

Thanks

I have an Rev A. I did not write down my temps but they are better now though. Do you have a service manual to open up your air?

nph, are you trying to fix your recently purchased revB?

The one that I just got few months back is perfect with temps between 47-58C while watching videos.

I think, even if you re-apply the thermal paste and yet keep blocking the vents, you won't see much difference!

Good luck and please let us know your results :)

If you've never applied thermal paste please look up a video on youtube (sorry I cant find one for you work blocks youtube)

You must apply thermal paste correctly (not too thick or thin!) for it to be most effective. if you screw it up dont worry you can wipe it off and try again, just dont get it on your fingers.
