Hi

Sorry for the recent influx of questions. Will try to quieten down after this one.

I'm just curious to know what the latest Firmware for the Classic 160GB is. Also, how often are new FM updates released for this model? What would be really handy to see is a list of all updates since its release. I've tried googling but cannot seem to find anything.

Many thanks

Max

Honestly unless a security, hardware issue or incompatibility crop up (which I doubt now due to the maturity of the device) I doubt you'll see another update.

OK.

TBH, I have not bought my iPod quite yet. Will be buying over the next week or two. So when I do buy, do you imagine the latest FW will already be on it? I'm in the UK if that makes any difference....

I'm hoping to go without iTunes. From what I understand, the only thing you cannot do without iTunes is update the FW. Hence the question....

Many thanks for the super quick reply.

I think the last update was June July 2012 from memory. If your purchasing at an apple store you could check for updates in store.

They're about £30 more in the Apple Store, so unlikely to be doing that. I'll have to wait and see I guess.

Do you/does anyone know what the latest firmware is (so that I know for when I get the iPod)?

Thanks again for the help

Hi

It's looking like I will not have to update the firmware (fingers crossed). That's great news because I was hoping to not have to install iTunes (I plan to use Foobar with the add-on Ipod Manager). As stated above, the only thing I was sure I would need iTunes for was the Firmware updates.

However, what I do need to run Foobar Ipod Manager (Foo_dop) is "Apple Mobile Device Support". I'm not sure what that is and how I get it. Can anyone enlighten me please? If it is part of iTunes, is there any way of getting it on my system without a full iTunes installation?

Thanks again for all the great help.
