Target, Costco, and Best Buy currently all have the same sale price for the 5, although it’s currently sold out in Target. I may be able to get 1% cash back if I purchase at Best Buy. I imagine Apple products are excluded from the Red Card 5% discount (can anyone verify?). The sale price is $100 less than through Apple. Are there any overwhelmingly compelling reasons to purchase through Apple and pay so much more for the exact same product?

1% Cashback is hardly worth anything.

And to your question, is there ‘any overwhelmingly compelling reasons‘ to purchase through Apple directly, probably not. You’re still receiving a one-year warranty, but the question is, do you have the have the expendable income with the additional ~$100 if you’re willing to buy direct through Apple? Or are you completely set on that you hav to have a ‘sale price‘. That’s what I would ask yourself.

I bought mine online from Target a couple of days ago and was able to use my Red card for the additional 5% off.

If you buy from Apple you can choose whatever watch/band combination you want. If you buy from Target or Best Buy, you have to take whatever watch/band combinations they have.

And you have an extra $100 to buy whatever band you want and then would end up with a watch and 2 bands for less than buying from Apple.
