Last I heard merom MBPs were gonna drop sometime early september. But as of late I havn't seen any discussion about Merom on this forum nor on many other Apple sites. What gives? Have I been misinformed, or are people just laying low until the release?

I think the actual release date of Merom is pretty elastic. I wouldn't be horribly surprised if it didn't drop until late september. But even if it is gonna be released, its still 2 weeks away. Usually you start seeing chatter a week before.

Perhaps you haven't been around enough. It's one Merom thread after the other.

That and I think alot of the people that were posting the Merom threads were tired of getting bashed because they sure did. Really there we thousands of newbs posting Merom posts about the same thing worded differently, so they always got responses like "Do a search!!!" or "Not another merom  " etc...

There isn't any because Merom is just an incremental upgrade over Yonah.

15% more performance in intensive tasks and 64-bitness. That's about it.

Just kidding. I'm glad for those who are in the market right now, but I won't cry over my lost 32 bits. :D
