Just got a little messed up with a shoddy hard drive, got a new one and am installing all the apps i lost. One of which was iMovie 3.5 i believe. now i can't seem to find a download for that anywhere. All apple has is versions 4 and 2.
This messed me up with iPhoto too, and then i realized there was no iPhoto 3, but i'm pretty sure there was up to 3.5 for iMovie before the paid iLife '04 version.
Anyone know anything about this?

IMovie was at 3.03 when iLIfe '04 came out. I have the latest update for iMovie pre iLife 04. The iLife 04 version is 4.0

I belive you either had to buy a mac with ilife on it or have bought it separately to get the iMovie 3.0...that may be why the 2.0 is the only vesion out there to download as it was the last "free" download if iMovie?!?!

nope, i remember specifically having the version of iMovie that was contained in one window, instead of taking up the whole screen, and that's definitely not version 2. Anybody else got any info? or proof that i'm a crack pot?

crack pot it is!
nope, it didn't come on my mac, my mac came with version 2, and i definitely didn't buy it or anything. See i thought iLife '04 was the first time we had to pay for iMovie or iPhoto, and that was version 4 for iMovie, or so i seem to believe. I seem to remember updating to version 3 through software update one upon a time. I guess part of my memory got erased along with my hard drive.

Jeffy,

You're not a crack pot. iMovie 3 was definately a free download.

Here's a LINK from Apple's site. Scroll about halfway down and click on the link that says 82.8 MB, not the iMovie link.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, but if you click the link it will only download 4.04. I also remember that when the first iLIfe came out there were a few of the things available for free download, and then some were only available on the iLife package. On iLife 04 all the updates are only available on iLife 04 except for iTunes...right?

This just in:

I did a google search for iMovie 3 download and here is what I found on one web page:

http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000474.html

The update info says: Download and update to iPhoto 2 here. Or get all the iLife applications for $49 U.S. at www.apple.com/ilife or your local Apple dealer. iLife includes the latest, integrated versions of iTunes 3, iPhoto 2, iMovie 3 and iDVD 3, on CD and DVD.

You clicked the wrong link. You have to click the 82.3MB link and you'll download iMovie 3.0.3.

BTW, the first version of iLife included iPhoto2, iMovie3, iTunes4, and iDVD3. All but iDVD were available for download for free. I know because I downloaded them free. With iLife '04, they charged for everything but iTunes4.2.

sweet, thanks guys, for letting me know i can trust my brain again, and continue with my current level of alcohol consumption.
i saw the 3.0.3 download, but only the update, which listed iMovie 3 as a requirement. It seems like Apple kinda wanted to get rid of iMovie 3, make people buy iLife, which i don't really get, since they can't really be making that much money off of that. I thought it was more of a buy mac incentive type deal.
But they certainly don't seem to have a straight up, download iMovie 3.0 page, very weird.
Thanks guys.
