Where's my photos?

Hi All,

My question is this - I understand photostream displays the last 1000 photo's. Does this apply to actual photo storage on iCloud?

There's two things here - iCloud photo storage (if there is such a thing) and Photostream which displays the last 1000 photo's in iCloud.

Or have I got this wrong, cannot work this out! I would expect to see a photo option on iCloud.com so I can view ALL of them in excess of a 1000 which have been backed up to iCloud.

The other odd behaviour is that the Apple TV is the only device which displays all of my iCloud photo's - no other device has the full set.

Photostream isn't really a back up solution. Its meant to unify your devices and will store a rolling 1000 photos.

That's my question then - I appreciate photostream displays the last 1000 photos. Photostream is just a display mechanism - Is iCloud actually storing more than the 1000 and if so, where do I find them? I personally dont think that it is..

iCloud backs up your camera roll if that's what you mean, like iTunes would. Its not something you can dip into and view your photos though.

Photostream will only hold 1000 photos. When you ad more, the first ones added will disappear.

(you mac (iPhoto/Aperture) will be automatically saving them as events though)

Thanks. To be clear then, iCloud is just backing up the iphone but not actually centrally storing my photo's other than 1000 of them in photo stream?

They're not very good at cloud stuff !

Yeah its a bit of a bummer as MobileMe had this facility to back up photos. I'm sure Apple will use it.

For what its worth I'm using Flickr to backup my photos as the integration with iPhoto is pretty good.
