I just found an Open-Box (certified) iPad from BestBuy, is it a good idea to go for that one?

Is is eligible for AppleCare? Can your friend go and inspect it before purchasing? I see it on their website. I would only do open box if it is eligible for AC+. That a good price. Have your friend look at it and confirm condition and AC+ if possible.
Yes, it’s elegible for AppleCare. It reads “only available for shipping”, so I don’t think she can look at it.
Yes, it’s at the same price as the 256gb iPad Air. I’ll buy it.

Is there where you got yours? I ordered mine from them, but they shipped it in an envelope and it got banged up. Not sure if this was a fluke. Costco gives a slight discount too, which is nice.
I pretty much buy all my Apple gear from either B&H or Microcenter. I have a MC close by so if I see an "open box" item listed on the website, I head on over to check it in person. My first iPad Pro was a 10.5" with cellular that I got for under $500. Recently I got an 11" with cellular for $565. Both were only 64gb but with iCloud I find I can get away with minimal internal storage without a lot of issues especially with the cellular connection. All were eligible for AppleCare.
Bestbuy is probably the best when buying iPads. That is where we purchase all ours. Always when they are on sale. We have saved hundreds over the years.
I love b&h. Excellent customer service and for awhile they were on ebates (now rakuten) so I got the extra bump in cash back along with my cc cash back.
I mostly buy from Apple now bc I buy items when they first come out (😅) but before when I was in college and broke I would buy from b&h.

B&H Photo doesn’t charge tax in most states. That’s a huge plus that saves me 10% when compared to Apple or Amazon
