I am an audio pro and my RME 802 converters output with Firewire 800. I've been using a FW 800 > Thunderbolt Apple adapter with my 2015 MB Pro, but the ports in the 2019 MB Pro 15 are Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) I believe. I have several of the FW 800 > Thunderbolt adapters already, should I plan to daisy chain another adapter that makes Thunderbolt 2 into the smaller USB C kind?

Thank you for any help on this.

Thanks so much. Funny how that happens in life. I ordered the Apple Thunderbolt 2 > usb C adapter. I wonder if the cheap Chinese knock off would work.

Uh oh. I think I bought the wrong adapter. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQ26QIY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details The adapter I've been using for FW 800 > Thunderbolt works for my 2015 MB Pro, but the thunderbolt male of the old adapter doesn't plug into the thunderbolt of the new adapter (the one in the link). Is the new one a Thunderbolt 2 but my old 2015 MB Pro used Thunderbolt 1?

Hmm, then again it says my Thunderbolt ports on the 2015 Macbook are Thunderbolt 2. I wonder why it doesn't fit!

And thunderbolt 1/2 were same connector and backwards compatible with each other iirc.
