Tibook-to expensive for what you get
Albook-Only if you need 15 or 17" the 12 isnt worth it
intelbook- STAY AWAY FROM REV A ESPCAILLY IF THINGS HAVE CHANGED DRASTICALLY LIKE A NEW CHIP
ibook- by far the best value great for everyting except heavy gaming, but I game on it just fine.

iBook is the best bang for your buck. It's a true portable- long battery life, great wireless reception, durable. One of these days they'll get the PBs up to those standards. The way things are now, a PB isn't much more than a portable desktop, not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

L O L. "Heavy gaming?" On a Mac? Oh, that was a good laugh, thank you for that! :D

P.S. I'm not a troll, but I recognize the difference between "heavy gaming" and not, especially with my machines in my sig and the performance you get from a high end Mac "gaming" computer (use a nice G5 at work) and a real PC gaming computer.

well... the pBooks are way cooler, you cant deny that. and the powerbooks are still very portable, not so much the 17", but it still weighs less and is a lot thinner than my 14" Dell laptop. and the 15" is like average size

ibooks are great. Since you can wait, i wouldn't make a purchase until mid January to see what new products are released.

You gonna trade it for something after you buy it?

Get an Intelbook. Don't listen to people badmouth rev. A, because if you want bleading edge tech, then you go A.

For the PC buyer mindset....

I liken the ibook to a celeron M or low speed Centrino notebook (like 1.5)

The powerbook is more like the Pentium 4 notebooks that have high clock speeds but poorer battery life... you also have to protect the pb more, since aluminum shows scratches and dents more visibly than plastic. And everytime I have shown someone my pb they have been in awe.

you can choose to run your portable mac with an emphasis on either performance, battery life or somewhere in the middle.

If you must get one now, its your choice what you do... if you can wait till the end of january, you should have more options.

I would say that an aluminum powerbook is just fine used, if you get it in nearmint, especially if you get it with remaining applecare.

$
p.s. thanks for sticking up for me, hahaha

I've been thinking (again) about getting a PB too.

But with MWSF so close, I'm going to wait and see if new PB's get released. If they do, I'll wait a couple of months or so and see if any issues with them pop up from the early adopters. If no major problems with them emerge, I'll buy one. If there are issues with them, then I'm going to get a refurb Rev. D G4 15" PB from Apple... That is if Apple still has them on their refurb page.

not really... the 15"/17" pBooks get 5.5 hours of battery life, thats really damn good and easily as good as many iBooks...
