Last week I bought the 15" MBA M4. I did not add AppleCare+ at time of purchase. I noticed that there's no 3-year plan anymore when I try to add AppleCare+ through my MBA, just monthly and annually. I plan to keep my MBA for two years.
I believe the annual plan is cheaper, but even if not, I think it makes things simpler. I will always choose annual over monthly with anything because it feels simpler. One reason you might not want the annual plan is if you decide to sell it before the year is over.Last week I bought the 15" MBA M4. I did not add AppleCare+ at time of purchase. In the days of multi-year Apple Care, you could cancel and receive a refund of the remaining balance. One reason you might not want the annual plan is if you decide to sell it before the year is over.
I didn’t think about that but I believe you are right. Apple recently refunded me money for an iPhone I traded in but forgot about the AppleCare. In the days of multi-year Apple Care, you could cancel and receive a refund of the remaining balance.
Is that no longer the case?
AC was also transferable to a new owner during the original 3 years, but if thereafter, if you went annual, you could not transfer it.
Always liked the multi-year AC because it meant giving someone the confidence to buy and to give oneself, as the seller, peace of mind if something were to go wrong soon after their purchase. That’s worked well for me and several buyers. It also means you can command a higher price.
Wonder what the conditions are now — I’ll have to check when I get a chance unless someone already knows and can chime in!
You can still do that. When I traded in my M3 it still had almost two years left. I called Apple and they gave me a pro-rated refund on the remaining time.In the days of multi-year Apple Care, you could cancel and receive a refund of the remaining balance.

You can still do the 3-year at a time purchase. You need to purchase it when you buy the computer. When I forgot to do that, I even called Apple a few days later and they let me purchase a three-year plan. I don't know how much longer they're going to do that. Way too many businesses are fixated on subscription pricing.Last week I bought the 15" MBA M4. I did not add AppleCare+ at time of purchase. Also make sure to put in your calendar when it’s going to renew for your accounting and in case you want to cancel.
I find it interesting that people are okay with ANOTHER subscription plan. I have always bought AppleCare primarily for laptops since they constantly move with me. (I like a lot of people have too many subscriptions (e.g., streaming services). I don't need or want another one.As the OP, two days ago I called Apple and they let me purchase the three year plan.
