I have a 2015 iMac (https://support.apple.com/kb/SP731?locale=en_US) that's connected to 2 external 24" monitors and 2 OWC Thunderbay 4 backup disk arrays. Since the bulk of my data sits on the external drives, I am not concerned about the general migration of data BUT since the new iMacs are USB-C/Thunderbolt 3, I need an adapter to connect the monitors to.

Which ones will work for that? I have searched but reviews on most cables are all over the place re: compatibility.

You will get faster and more accurate replies if you actually mention the specific monitor model numbers and better yet, include photographs (gasp, yes!) of their respective connection panels.

I know a lot of people here hate posting photos and would rather trickle out three paragraphs of text, two sentences at a time over multiple posts.

Anyhow, it's impossible to make specific recommendations with the current amount of information you have provided.

Sorry, I figured the link to the exact specs of my previous computer would explain it all. I am not looking to change the connection into the monitors or even the hard drives, just to make the end of the cable going into the new iMac work with it.

So, we're to assume your monitors are connected to the TB2 ports? Is that connection "native", meaning that the cable goes direct between the computer and the monitors?

If they're connected with adapters already, what plugs are connected to the displays? This matters because you really shouldn't "stack" adapters, it generally won't work. Even still - if there's a cable that will go directly from the new Mac to the monitor I MUCH prefer the direct connection so knowing what you have is useful.

It looks like the only connector difference between what you have and what you want to get is the change from the TB2 (which is actually also a mini-DisplayPort connector) and the TB3 USB-C style connector.
