hmmm....not really what i was looking for, but thanks.

i was able to sync the Pocket Informant calendar to toodledo, but the only problem i have there is that whenever i open pocket informant after changes have been made in toodledo, the only way for the calendar to update is to manually press "sync" or shake the iphone for it to update.

does anyone know a calendar that will sync with toodledo that will automatically update???

With the app closed? None exists.

Some apps autosync on opening the app. Pocket Informant does that.

hmmm, pocket informant doesn't do that with me. and i believe i even have that option enabled. the only way it updates is if i shake the iphone and if i manually press sync in the settings.

i should add that i have the lite version, but i don't think that changes anything for these purposes.

I just checked, the lite version doesn't have all the autosync options that the full version does. You'll find an AutoSync 'At Startup Only' option in the full version.

interesting....looks like my cheap ass may have to purchase the full version.

i wish there were another app that was similar to PI, because i'm not really a fan of the interface and find it kind of glitchy at times.

anyone know of any others?

The only other apps I know do that are Todo and 2do, but you've already said Todo isn't what you're looking for, and 2Do is a similar set up to Todo.

those are other calendar apps that can sync with toodledo? maybe i wasn't being clear enough.

i appreciate your help by the way!

Nope, they're task apps. Toodledo is as you know an online task management service, so apps are generally only going to use it for syncing tasks (Pocket Informant does the same).

Events, or calendar apps generally sync to Google Calendar, as Pocket Informant does.

Personally I like Pocket Informant cause I can see both tasks and events in the same view, and get a quick birdseye view of my upcoming schedule via the monthview timebars. I know a lot of people aren't crazy about the interface though, my wife refuses to use Pocket Informant.

yah, i'm not crazy about the interface but it might be my only option.

basically, i want toodledo for 1 reason only (actually 2 reasons, lol). i need it because it's capable of posting badges to the app icon for events within a defined range (ex: 7 days and less, 5 days and less, etc) whereas most other to do apps only post badges either for all events coming up or only events happening on that day. which leads to the next reason, toodledo can sync with a calendar of some sort (PI).

all i really wanted was a calendar that would be able to post a badge like toodledo allows. if that existed, i wouldn't even use toodledo.

Just a little off topic but regarding 2Do, I love the way the application badge automatically updates itself (iOS4 only) on the days tasks are due. I am not sure other apps have caught up yet regarding that functionality.

Have you checked out Week Calendar? It allows you to sync all of your calendars together. If you use Toodledo (like I do) then it's possible to add Toodledo as a subscribed calendar. Once you add tasks through Toodledo, your native calendar will pick it up and sync with Toodledo. This way you'll have your tasks implemented into your calendar.
This should work with Week Calendar as well. Week Calendar should sync up with all calendars that you have on your iPhone.

However, I'm having trouble with exactly that. Whenever I add or edit a task through Toodledo, Week Calendar does not pick it up at all. The only way for me to see my Toodledo tasks in Week Calendar, is by starting up the native iPhone calendar first, allowing it to sync, and once i can see the tasks in the native calendar I'll be able to see them in Week Calendar as well. There is no other way for me and it's quite frustrating. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I e-mailed Wasabi-Apps, but no solution came from that.

that is extremely interesting. please keep me posted!

edit: but what do you mean the native calendar will pick up the tasks from toodledo? do you mean it must 1st go through google calendar? i haven't been able to do this at all. i've been actually looking for a calendar app that would sync with toodledo other than pocket informant.

First of all, no you don't need google calendar for this. Second, follow this link and it'll explain how to get your Toodledo tasks synced onto your iPhone: http://www.toodledo.com/info/help.php?sel=95

If you don't feel like typing that adress in manually, go to the tools & services --> iCal page, copy the link from there, go back to the settings app on your iPhone and paste it in the correct place. Once you've set up your subscribed calendar, you'll be able to view all of your Toodledo tasks on your native calendar on your iPhone.

Now, my logic was that since you now have a Toodledo calendar (I'm talking about the type of calendar you can turn on or off inside calendar apps on your iPhone, just like birthdays etc.), you can use that calendar inside other Calendar Apps like Week Calendar. This is true, since all calendars that I have i can manage on Week Calendar. My problem is that whenever Week Calendar syncs at startup, it doesn't sync with the Toodledo iCal that I've set up.
The only way for it to work on my iPhone is by letting the native calendar on my iPhone sync first.
Week calendar is a nearly perfect calendar app so i suggest you give it a try. They're adding a month view in the future. Anyway, let me know how it works for you!

oh man, you really made my day. i've been looking everywhere since i got my iphone in august, and now i finally found it. thanks! that's great!

the sync is automatic? it happens when you open ical on your iphone each time?

It seems to sync every time you open up the Calendar app, the little spinner indicating an internet connection in the top bar (the one with the time) always appears whenever you open up the calendar app, it seems to take some time for the calendar app to process the info and for it to appear in your calendar though.

ya, but it takes about just as much time to sync as PI.

I'm assuming you've bought Week Calendar based on your reply. Could you tell me if the app refreshes your Toodledo tasks at all, without needing to start up the native calendar? If it does, about how long does it take?

Hmmm... not my experience. PI always takes a minute to sync and all new events show immediately after that, but it at least takes the calendar app a a couple hours for new events to appear from Gcal to the calendar app. Perhaps that's just cause I've got the Calendar app set up to sync with Gcal via CalDav.

How's Week Calendar if you bought it?

i didn't buy it.

well basically, i'm just entering in events in toodledo. i want these events to show up in a calendar. the only reason i have toodledo is because it shows a badge on the app icon for how many events i have in 3 days or less.

so, i enter the event in toodledo, and then i open PI and it takes 3 seconds for it to sync and show in PI's calendar. it take approximately the same amount of time now for the event to show up once i open ical. i don't need PI, so i'm just going to stick to ical for now.

i actually finally found a todo/calendar app that will have both features integrated as well as show the number of events remaining for the next 3 day period in the app icon badge.

it's called touchtodo. it seems pretty dam good for 1.99$. i haven't fully tested it yet, but it does have many interesting features and it's possible to sync it with google calendar if need be.
