I just ordered a pair of AirPods Pro, which the product info states comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable. That infers I would need an 18w charger which I believe is the smallest one using the aforementioned USB-C to Lightning cable. However, because it wirelessly charges via a Qi charger which is 7.5w, couldn't I also use a 12w block and a USB-A to Lightning cable?

What other chargers, if any, may be used with AirPods Pro? I have everything from the little 5w blocks up to a 30w charger for all my various Apple devices.

Thanks in advance for your response.

No it does not infer that. You can charge your AirPods wirelessly or with any Lightning cable, regardless of the charger on the other end.

Then why supply a USB-C cable? None of the devices I own currently use a charger with a USB-C connector. I have an 18w and a 30w, but it's not clear what I should be using... could I use a conventional lightning cable to USB-A at work, for example, plugged into my Windows workstation? This is not clear at all.

Because Apple's Pro devices (iPhone 11 Pro, iPad Pro, and MacBook Pro) all ship with USB-C charging blocks. But you can use any charging block as long as the device end of your cable has a Lightning connector. So yes, your Windows workstation can charge your AirPods Pro.

You can charge it with anything you have. It'll draw the appropriate voltage and amp.

can any usb to c cable work? Need to be able to charge from the car too.
As long as they’re from a reputable vendor, you could use pretty much any cable or charging block. The control circuit is built into the case itself so it doesn’t let in any more than what it needs to charge.

I ordered a Usb to Usb C and the part that goes in the ipod case looked perfect except a hair to big.
Does anyone have a amazon link to a cable that fits for my truck to charge
Thanks

Hello Carl292,

The AirPods Pro case requires a Lightning connector input:

Neither end of your USB to USB-C cable will fit the APP case, because neither is
a Lightning connector!

Search Amazon for 'usb lightning cable' or 'usb-c lightning cable' for some options. (I like the Anker Powerline.)

Hope this is of help to you!

Best,
KM

Edit to add link: Anker USB Lightning Cable (Amazon)
