So I'm finally giving in and buying an Apple Watch (couldn't stay away any longer!) but now the big dilemma of which colour to choose. I have to order online as there isn't an Apple Store where I live. I have tiny wrists so need a 38 mm. I want either rose gold or silver with a black band. I wear only silver jewellery. Does it matter if the watch is rose gold but bracelets and rings are silver? Anybody has this and thinks it looks good? Does the colour wear differently over time? Thanks for helping a poor indecisive soul! :)

I've seen one rose gold watch out in the wild and it wouldn't be my choice, the red tint just made the whole watch look cheap to me. Silver is more versatile plus it will go with the jewellery you already have. This really is personal opinion though, maybe get on Instagram or Pinterest and have a look at how people are wearing them and see what fits your eye.

First of all: are you a man or a woman?
Second: wouldn't you prefer stainless steel? As this is much more 'silvery' than the aluminium.

I don't think the colour wears differently over time. If I were you, I'd go with the more luxurious stainless steel to match your jewellery. If you don't want to spend that much, and want to choose the aluminium watch, it won't match your jewellery any time, so then it wouldn't matter if you'd choose the silver aluminium or the rose gold aluminium. That's up to you and your personal preference.

Thanks! I've been trying Pinterest but seem to mainly find photos of the silver version. I am female by the way. I've removed the stainless steel as an option - the aluminium one is expensive enough as it is :) Is the silver aluminium one non-shiny? I've now tried on my colleague's gold with dark blue strap watch so now I have yet another option!

Here is a comparison of the pinky rose gold watch on the right, vs the shiny stainless steel watch. I'd know right away which one to pick.

edit: I found the ultimate photo to compare silver aluminium and stainless steel, to illustrate that the aluminium is not shiny at all.

[doublepost=1496149766][/doublepost]And to add to that, please consider a very nice option (in my opinion, that is): the Gold Aluminium Watch, with a pebble grey or cocoa sportband.

Thank you very much for your photos! They are great. I think the more I google (and now even more after seeing your top photo) I'm definitely going off the rose gold option. It looks great on the Apple Store website, especially with a black band, but looks quite 'bubble gummy' in other photos. The gold is growing on me! This is the gold with a blue band with my silver bracelet. Does it work?

The Rose Gold is really good looking in 38mm
But I wouldn't put a black band on it

Either a gray or white band, or the Lavender or Pink Sand Sport band would go so good... See this girl I know with one all the time and it looks amazing

I really find the black on black models to be lack luster, a bit sad for a such a great piece of technology.

I like the gold finish with multicolor wristbands.

But you know, it's all subjective.

Apple's stock Apple Watch photos never do the Watch justice, as much as they look different in person. Even the Space black stainless Apple Watch looks completely different in person, as it almost changes different shades of black in the light.

Your first question is just a quick way to load up a bunch of stereotyped notions that may or may not apply to the OP. Why should it matter? Your second question substantially raises the price of the watch.

To the OP, it's all a matter of personal preference, as in "wear what you like". The aluminum watches have a brushed, or matte, finish, while the steel watches are highly reflective, shiny. The steel ones are also a bit heavier and somewhat more expensive, which may affect your choice.

Here's the question I see as having a bigger effect on your watch choice: how likely are you to end up with a bunch of bands? (And fair warning that collecting bands is a sickness, and a very addicting one at that.) If you're going to stick with the band the watch came with, or maybe get one or two sport bands, then any of the watches will do, pick whatever color appeals to you. If you are likely to end up buying a bunch of (Apple) bands to match outfits/accessories/occasions/mood, be aware that most of the leather bands come with (only) shiny silver-colored hardware, which looks great with the shiny stainless steel watch, and reasonable with the "silver" aluminum watch, but they clash with the gold, rose gold, space black, and space gray watches (these are effectively all second-class citizens as far as watch bands go). Similarly, the metal bands are available in "stainless" or black, and look good on the watches that are basically silver or black, but not so good on the gold or rose gold watches. Apple has an Interactive Gallery for Apple Watch, where you can mix/match most (not aall) of the available watch and band combinations, to get an idea what they might look like together. This might be a factor for you, or it might not.

Check out the "show off your watch" thread at the top of this sub forum for more interesting pics of different combinations, in a variety of real-world lighting conditions. (Though pics are a little sparse for a pics thread, and it's over 300 pages, and rose gold doesn't show up until past page 200.)

For the record, I'm a grown man with a Space Gray aluminum Apple Watch (original model), with entirely too many bands, and I've been known to wear Product Red or Light Pink sport bands (or sometimes one half of Mint and one half of Light Pink or Azure), because I'm more interested in entertaining my sense of whimsy than adhering to other people's fashion sense.

I know, that was exactly the point. If the thread starter wouldn't know what to pick, and if this would be a man, I would not advise rose gold aluminium. Just trying to be helpful, not trying to generalize.
I understand that the SS option raises the price, it's just that she wanted to match with silver jewellery. Be honest: then only SS is the right way to go.

Completely understand, as I myself only wear what I want to wear and not only listen to what others think. I'm currently wearing hard-pink socks. :D ;

Thank you everyone who helped! I ended up ordering the silver sports watch. My heart said gold with midnight blue band (actually it really said stainless steel but the wallet said a big massive NO!) but as you say CarlJ I will want a load of different bands (my amazon basked is already full of them and I haven't even received the watch yet!!). I was able to try a silver sports watch in an electronics shop and even though I find it a bit dull it works really well with my silver jewellery. And since my husband is not as openminded about pink as you guys I'll be able to donate it to him when I want to upgrade :) . Thanks for the link to the gallery - that will be lots of fun for my newfound band obsession.
