Hello,

I have a 2019 iMac 21.5” and it has been very slow. It was really hard to upgrade the memory and hard drive so that’s why I have decided to trade it in. I want a Mac that has a fast processor, a lot of memory and at least 1 terabyte of hard drive. I am mainly looking for an M1 processor but it doesn’t have to be. At least 16 GB of memory is good for me. My budget is under $2,000. I could take anything even the mini. Thanks!

p.s I am a video editor and I use big programs like photoshop, After effects, Final Cut Pro etc. I have been told by a knowledgeable person that I should get a dell tower. But I am a developer and I can’t download Xcode on PC. If there is a way please let me know. Thanks!

Trade it in for the new 2021 m1 iMac 24".
But be sure to get the 16gb version with 4 ports on the back and at least a 512gb SSD.

I’ve had enough with the iMac. I think it is too big. I will be traveling so I want to take it with me. Is the Mini a better choice? Will it be lightning fast? Thanks for replyin!

If you want a computer you can take with you, it would have been helpful to say that in the beginning!

A mini is not portable. You're talking about a MacBook, so right now you have two choices if you want to get the M1 - either a MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro, both with 13" displays.

Get the 24" iMac base model with 16GB memory, get a USB-C- or Thunderbolt hub, get a real big amount of external storage.

EDIT: Forget it. Just saw a moment later, the iMac is apparently to big.

A MacBook Pro should do you good. Just get extra storage and 16gb or RAM. And you can always get a monitor.

In a scale of 1-10 (1 as one year and 10 as 10+ years) how long do you guys think the MBP(MacBook Pro) will last and how long the MacBook Air will last? should I wait for an M1x chip? I need something that will last and something that could do pro jobs. I heard that the Mac Pro is good. It could go up to 1.5 TB of memory. I bet you thats fast so I was wondering if there is something way cheaper Mac or pc. I just want something that is fast and lasts. Thank you all.

And then hook up a big monitor for when you are not mobile. Even a 16 or 17 inch screen on a laptop will get small in comparison to the lowliest of external monitors being sold these days!
