Hi!

I have opportunity to get
M1 MAX 32GB 2TB 24 GPU CORE (REFURBISHED)
or
M2 PRO 32GB 1TB
(EDUCATION)

for similar price. Mostly for work, Logic Pro, occasional video.

Which is the better buy? Please help and thank you!

Honestly, some more information would be needed to make any sort of recommendation. For example, what type of work/work apps would you be using? Will you be using this primarily plugged in on a desk or when out and about? For Logic Pro, how intensive are your projects (i.e., how many tracks, effects, etc.). The M2 Pro would likely be the better option in terms of battery life when off AC power, but the M1 Max might perform slightly better in Logic Pro.

Inside Logic Pro the Max will have no benefit at all, for “ video“, it will be better, but it really depends how regularly you’re planning to do video editing and how important the slightly faster rendering times are to you

Mostly office 365.
Nothing too intensive for logic at most 30-40 tracks for now.
I like the plugins inside so I suppose SSD size is important.
Plugged in yes, sometimes for travel but I'm ok with the size as I'm using 2015 retina 15.4" MacBook Pro now

Do the speakers sound better in either M1 v M2?

Thanks man. Handful videos a year and I guess rendering times not too important.
Essentially, I'm comparing education Vs refurbished deals.

Is battery life important to you?
How about screen size, which one is it?

I would always go for brand new and with longer battery life, but thats me, your mileage may vary.

I dont see M1 Max with 2TB drive that much better in regards to raw performance data neither on paper nor in real life than M2 Pro with 1TB drive.
