This goes for video editing in FCPX as well. Gamma 2.2 seems crushed altho it looks pretty, 1.8 has more detail but appears drier. I would think editing in 1.8 would be correct since I can see more detail so i'd assume more people have their monitors set for that style. Also from what i've seen, most people have crappy monitors that display stuff like this anyways, very dry and light. (like my Asus I use for gaming) I've heard 2.2 is better tho since it's will look how it's supposed to on more monitors good or bad. Apparently it's a standard, altho not with anyone I know. Any advice I what I should be setting it to for editing and accuracy purposes.
 
Use Sypder Elite 4 or ColorMunki products to calibrate color accuracy on laptops, monitors, ...etc.
