iPhone Which Guide should I use to Jailbroken/Unlock for 3GS

Hello Folks,

I know there are tonns of guide to hack, I will appreciate if someone could provide me the pointer for this model:

IPHONE: 3GS
IOS: Version: 5.0 (Should I update to 5.1 or not?)
MODEL: MC131J
SERIEAL NUMBER: 839508W...
Modem Firmware: 05.16.05

Expectation:
Jailbroken
Unlock
IOS 5.1
And I don't want to plug-in to the computer for everytime I shutdown the Iphone.

What is shsh saved? I can upgrade to 5.1.1 but I thought if I upgrade then I will not be able to jailbroken..

Since you want to unlock, you need to go to this webpage and perform this downgrade.

Then restore it to 5.1.1, you will have to use a No_BB IPSW to restore to preserve the unlockable baseband (which you get in the step above)

Then jailbreak with Absinthe 2.0.4

Since it seems you are a complete stranger to this, check iClarified.com for tutorials.

5.1.1 has an untethered jailbreak, however Baseband 5.16.05 ca n'r be unlocked.

You can upgrade the BB to the iPad BB of 06.15.0 and than downgrade to the 5.13.04 BB which can be unlocked. That can only be safely done on older 3GS's.

Do some research on the subject and check if it can be done for your serial number.
