I am thinking about upgrading my hard drive in my MacBook, but I'm not sure which one I want to get. Do you think it would be better to get a 120 gig 5400 rpm or a 100 gig 7200 rpm (for about the same price)?

120gb

120GB 5400, for sure. Test have found that the 7200s offer little speed advantage in a MacPro. All it will do is suck the battery quicker and make your Mac run hotter.

What price are you looking at? The Hitachi 160GB is at $219 and will be in the $170s in a week or two.

$114.99, but that 160 looks interseting... I won't be ordering my MacBook for a week or two anyway (after WWDC), so that might work out

Any word on that Hitachi price drop? Newegg doesn't have the 160GB in stock and I don't have a lot of confidence in other shops.

Anyone have suggestions on where to get it?

Definitely get the 120GB over the 100GB. You won't notice much of a 'speed difference,' and plus the 7200 will just use up more battery. Sacrifice battery for speed that you won't even notice?

I think not.
