I am stuck on which Hard drive size iPad I should buy?

Does anyone with the 16 gig iPad wish they could get the 32 gig or 64 gig model?

I'm thinking that if I do buy the 16 gig model I will regret it in a month or so and should have picked up the 32 gig iPad instead.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

It's a 100 bucks to get 16 gig more. You can't add more later. Buy as big as you can now.

I just got talked into the same rationale to go from the 32 gig to the 64 gig by a guy at work today. So I might be a bit biased.

The upgrade from 16 to 32 is worth it at $100. But unless you're gone from home for long periods & unable to install or uninstall files from your home PC & your coming from a 16gb starting place, then, IMO, 32 is ideal...

No regrets here

16GB 3G

Here is my rationale. A new one will be coming along next year with more features and better hardware specs therefore I didnt want to spend so much on the first gen. Its too big as an ipod so i dont carry any music on it. I sync a few movies to it and the rest of the space is for apps. I have 5 pages of apps installed with 8 GBs free.

It all depends on how you will use the iPad and perhaps a little on your financial situation. I got the 16-GB version and after a month of use have 13.6 GB free. Also, I'm retired and don't have a huge amount of free cash. So, I am really happy with my choice.

Faced the same choice when I bought mine yesterday. Used my iPhone experience as a reference, on my 3G 16gig space was limited, now with a 32 gig iPhone thins are just right. Couldn't bring myself to go with a smaller iPad than iPhone.

I agree unless you are dead set on a 3G iPad I would go with the 32gb model. I have a 16gb iPhone and I tend to load a lot more apps and movies on the iPad, right now I only have 9 gigs free. The 16 gig model would not cut it for me.

More space = more porn.

What??? You know this is the real reason you asked so give me props for authenticity at least.

This sounds just like myself, lol. I too have a 16 gig iPhone 3G and after 2 years upgraded to the same 16 gig iPhone 4.

Everyone thank you for the great responses. I'll probably end up going with the 32 gig model. I can afford any of them but I am still conservative when it comes to buying electronics.

I would prefer to load up tv shows and movies from my itunes store bought collection. I plan on staying with the Wifi models. Not really interested in 3G iPads.

Awesome responses. :)

Hard Drive?

I am stuck on which Hard drive size iPad I should buy?

I think it's funny that you refer to it as a Hard Drive. I am sure you were just using it as a figure of speech. I am also surprised nobody made fun of you since a lot of people here are just plain rude. So I will be gentle, a hard drive does not fit in an iPad, it uses memory chips. But to answer your question, I have a 16 Gig iPad and that is more than adequate for storing my porn pictures and fetish movies for my frequent rubbing one out nights on the go. When my sexual deviant viewing needs escalate, I am hoping Apple upgrades the iPad with a camera so I can join some of the websites that offer webcam interaction. I am hoping FaceTime will become an added bonus in the future for my porn addiction. Just my two cents..peace! :D:eek:

You should buy the largest one you can afford.

I have 64gb and its basically full.....once you start putting movies and tv shows on you will want the space.

Of course, if you can't afford it you can always just be more selective in what media you sync over.

Get as much as you can afford.

I got 32 GB, mainly because I wanted 3g and I figured it would be enough. It is already 60% full.

Depends on what you want on it too, I guess. Be, being a sucker for Apple products also have MobileMe, hence I can access my iDisk files on the trot via 3G, so I have additional "cloud storage".

64GB may be an idea if you want to carry several movies around at a time, which isn't me.

I got 32gb thinking that it was enough on my iPhone so it should be enough on the iPad. However, photos take up a lot more space on the iPad and I wish I'd gone to 64gb.

As others here have said. Get the biggest you can afford. Either way, an iPad is better than no iPad. This thing is marvelous. I've loved it since launch day.

Depends on your budget too

I would at least get 32GB, and if you can afford it get 64GB, so there are no regrets later.

I also depends on the use you'll give to it. I'm already at 38GB full, and it's been 70 days since I got it. I never imagined I would go over 20GB, and now I'm glad I got it with 64GB.

What I mean't to say is when I buy the iPad should I get 16, 32 or 64 gigs? Because I know you can't add a hard drive or anything. I know this!

But I do like your porn attic ideas. :)

Here's what I'm thinking? If I go over 32 gigs then I probably should go back to my 13 inch Macbook Pro.

64 gigs is very nice but I'm trying to stay out of Laptop range of prices. I can afford it but do I want to afford it ?

32 gigs sounds good but having more space never hurts. Still thinking it over.:)

Also I am buying this outright. No credit card charges.

I bought a 32GB and have wondered if I should have gone for the 64.
I have a bit of music on it (1.3GB) but I wanted it mostly for apps and videos.
However, since getting the camera connection kit, I have found that I can load extra videos onto a USB key (or 2), copy them to the iPad when required, watch them, and then delete them from the iPad.
It only takes about 40 seconds to copy 500MB from a USB key to the iPad.
In short, I can (sort of) increase the storage capacity of the iPad.

I got the 32 gig one and it is perfect. Right now I have I think 12 movies on it and 30 apps. I also have probably 20 ebooks/pdfs between my ereader apps and goodreader. I don't have any music on it and the only photos I have on it are background images. I have 8 gigs free.

One of the things you have to remember is that with the 32 gig model...you really only get I think 28-29 gigs..so I am sure with the 16 gig model you only get like 14? I really have no idea.

32 gigs allows me to have a good range of media without it getting too cluttered and still have some room to add more to it. I have had my iPad for 2 months and at this point I haven't had to remove anything from it due to space issues but if I start adding more stuff and space becomes an issue I really don't need my entire movie/book collection on it...as long as I have a decent range of movies/books to pick from at any given time I'm happy.

This is the best post thus far for me. Thank you sir. This is the information and point of view I needed to hear. I was already leaning towards the 32 gig model and all I really need is a good range of media.

My laptop has the 750 gig WD HD. So I can lean on that for my huge hard drive media needs.

64 gigs is amazing but I think the 32 will fit my personal needs just fine.
