Hi, I am looking for the most reasonable iPad (to buy used), just to stream a news channel whilst I am working (on my other Macs..). What would be the cheapest model usable for just streaming and have my HomePod output the sound? Thanks

Any iPad can do this, so as long as your news app still works on the newest version of iPadOS that the machine runs, and/or safari works properly, pretty much anything will do.

The iPad Mini 4 would be super cheap now and is running on iOS 15.7 so would be the perfect candidate. I use it to stream from apps and via Safari all the time.

Yeah, agree with @cupcakes2000. If it runs through Safari, any iPad with a relatively recent version of iPadOS will do (I’ve had issues to access websites on my 9.7-inch iPad Pro on iOS 12, further issues on my iPhone 6s on iOS 10. iOS 12 issues are negligible, iOS 10 issues aren’t). If it is an app, make sure it supports the iPadOS version that the iPad supports.

Any iPad that runs iPadOS 15 would be fine. The iPad 5th gen, 6th gen, the 1st gen iPad Pro, for that use, you can get practically anything.

Just about any iPad will do. We are using an old iPad mini for that.

Interestingly enough, I believe the mini 4 costs more than the Air 2 and iPad 5th gen despite having a slower CPU.

Wait to see if they update the base model next month, or an older iPad Pro as it has those quad speakers which give some nice volume.

In terms of price, 9th gen iPad is only $300. This is actually new condition, not used, but should work none of the less while still being a good fit price wise. That said, the more pricy iPads may be worth it for better displays, and those will be nice in used condition for the savings.

Hi, picked up an iPad Air 2 64GB for £77.00 on eBay, very good condition. Works absolutely perfect for my intended use, it is just sitting there, streaming a news channel using my HomePod for audio. Thanks for input!

Just got the 9th gen iPad from Amazon this morning pal and for £290 its about as much as you'd need

I thought about the Air and Pro; but couldn't justify their price tags, more so for standard/simple usage!

If you can, go for that; it'll last a long time!
