Which iPad should I get from iPad 10th Gen (latest) or iPad Air 4th Gen (2020) ?

Looking at the spec sheets, They both have the same A14 chip. I can't see much other differences from both of them being 2 years apart.

I'll be buying it used and the prices look similar.

I won't be doing much with it apart from browsing and using it as a travel buddy.

The iPad Air 4th gen supports Apple Pencil 2 and has laminated display.

The iPad 10th gen supports Apple Pencil 1 (requires USB-C to Lightning adapter), and has landscape camera and I believe Center Stage. Likely less battery wear as well since it's a newer release.

With both, you can use $15+ Apple Pencil clones you can buy from AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, etc. which use the same technology as the official Logitech Crayon. These work almost as well as the Apple Pencil minus a couple of the fancier features.

Yes, unless you are a pro drawer, don't choose any of it by looking to the pencil support. I would simply buy one clone from Amazon.

Should go with the Air 4 if they’re the same price. You get a laminated DCI P3 display with anti reflective coating And apple pen mod 2 support. Only thing the ipad has over the iPad Air is a 12mp front camera with center stage.

Air 4 has the better laminated display, also a P3 display, better colours. Only worry would be the battery health as the air is older

As an iPad Pro User going back to non laminated display is even worse than going from 120hz to 60hz.. non laminated display always feels cheap, weaker contrast, and even when the screen is off whenever you touch it its always there.. to make matters worse the iPad 10 is secretly less powerful than A14 of iPad Air 4 so performance is bit better on Air 4 as well as better powerful speakers as it has better sound seperation side by side.

So Air 4 for me if its not that abused. Better display, better and much louder speakers, and supports magic keyboard like iPad Pro.
