I have been a long time android user, however, I usually have had budget phones, less than $250. My parents have decided to let me get a new phone for when I go to college. They say they will pay only $500 so that means up to $600 not pass. I have been thinking about either the Galaxy S8 or OnePlus 6 so far, remember I will be getting the phone around June 2018. However I am not sure if I should switch to iPhone. One thing that deters me is the screen size. If I get an iPhone I will wait until September in order for the price drop, I am use to a 5.5 screen especially since I play games on it. So I will most likely get the iPhone 7 Plus which would be $570 if Apple drops the price by $100. However I guess the regular iPhone 8 may be an option since it will be $599. One thing I like about Apple, is how easy it is to multitask, although I'm not sure how other androids are since the phones I have don't have a lot of power. Also, I am not sure if the Iphone is future proof, I am having this phone for 4 years.

I just ordered a used 128GB 7+ in mint condition on Swappa yesterday for ~$500. Might be helpful to use Swappa to get newer, more expensive iPhones with a nice price cut.

I’d say you’re being very optimistic about a price drop. You might have better luck purchasing a used 7+ from swappa as mentioned by xxray.

Maybe, but don't they usually drop $100 on their previous models when they release the new models? At least they did this for this year. The iPhone 6s was kept and the price was lowered by $100. The iPhone 7 had a $100 price cut too for both models.

Get an iPhone X or Samsung s9. The Samsung one will be available, even if it is second hand, for that price tag in June 2018.

LOL, can't get anything above $599. My parents won't even let me chip in money, so even if I am willing to put in $200 of my own money, they won't let me!

Another reason I am interested in the iPhones is due to the fact that I am also looking into getting airpods

How old are you? If you are going to college, just work for it. If you can't do any Uber or UberEats type of work, I suggest to try out Takl.

Get the X, man. Just do less than a month of Takl to pay the difference. And remember, be Xcellent to each other. And party on, dude. ;)

You can fully expect discounted iPhone 7 and 8 to be available next year.

Apple has a big tail end for their products. Countries like India aren't going to adopt iPhone X for a few more years due to the price. Apple isn't about to pull the plug and serve the high-end only in 2018.

As mentioned in the earlier post, I have money, I make $4900 in the summer, however even with money, my parents won't let me buy anything they don't seem worth it, especially the $1000 iPhone X. Also, I am not interested in the iPhone X as much, I believe some of the technology will appear on next iPhone. Also, my parents aren't poor either, however they aren't much of the spending type.

That's what I guess, especially since the iPhone 6s and 7 has been a great sell compared to the iPhone 8. Although I wonder whether or not they will keep the 7, since Apple seems to be the company that keeps higher range phones, now with the 6s and 7, they are part of the mid range(which is great for consumers). However, the now "lower" end models have gained probably more support since people can get into the brand with less money.

iPhone X with the bionic processor is the best future-proofing money can buy.

The future of iPhone is the X so everything will be geared towards its UX. So you want to be on the X line. And all future versions of iOS will be written to take full advantage of the bionic processing technology in the new iPhones. So iPhone X is the unbeatable package.

I guess it's too early to tell, given that I might wait till May, in which more rumors about the next iPhone will be better. I really hope that the next standard iPhone will have a bigger display and will be a base model of $650. Otherwise I will probably go with the Samsung Galaxy S8 or any other phone that might be coming out

How about a 2nd hand phone from a place like Swappa. you can find some good , clean, used phones with AppleCare or balance of factory warranty on that site form time to time. That way you can expand your options to other devices.

I am not sure what you mean by Multi-tasking on iOS, honestly Android is a little better in this regard, but it sometimes requires a higher end phone. Also factor into your cost the price of applications and such. Not trying to steer you away from iOS (I love both platforms), but if you have $$$ invested into Android apps, you will not be able to reclaim such purchases on the iOS App Store.

Are 2n hand phones good? That is my main worry about how well it performs. I do have some money spent on some android but that isn't a problem, I have a $50 apple store gift card that I am never able to use since I don't own any apple devices. I will look into Swappa. I do know though if I get airpods(maybe during black friday) it will be better on iphone, but again I have about 1/2 a year before I get my phone
[doublepost=1510799510][/doublepost]Also would it be better to buy an unlocked phone, or one from the carrier?

It always has the potential to be a crap shoot, but, I have had great success with 2nd hand phones and iPads on Swappa. There is seller reputation on there, and disclosure of phone status is a requirement as posts are vetted by staff before they are posted. Look for posts with AppleCare+ if you like, otherwise any 8 you buy on there will likely still be under the 1 year warranty.

If you can afford to go new, that is obviously ideal.

AirPods work fine on Android, I use them on my Pixel2 daily without issue, as well as really old iOS devices that don't support the hand-off feature.
