Hey everyone

I'm looking to buy a portable music player. I know this is the 'iPod' section but people are helpful here. I'm not looking for a fashion accessory, i'm looking for something to play my music.

I need a player which can do the following:

10-20gb storage
Play mp3s
Play m4p/mp4/aac files
Shuffle Playlist
Sync with iTunes (Mac)

Now, If anyone knows of a player other than the iPod that can do this cheaper, then let me know. Otherwise, read on.

Now, the new 20gb iPod colors have been released. Is there any real advantage over these than the regular 4G 20gb ipods? The colour screen sure is nice, but i can easily live without it. Is the 20gb going to be 'out of date' (will apple still provide software feature updates? e.g. podcasts)

I can get a brand new 20gb iPod color for about £200/$380, or a sealed 20gb iPod 4G for £150/$280.

Thanks

There isn't another brand that does all the things you want to do.
I'd say go with the monochrome iPod unless you want to look at pictures or the album art that comes with ITMS singles. The "old" and "new" 20 GB iPods are essentially the same so I don't think the older one will be obsolete before the color model. Hope that helps.
